Hurricane Sandy looks to be a real bad storm. It will make landfall somewhere near Philadelphia (likely the NJ coast) late Monday into Tuesday. But that does not mean that the hurricane won’t make its presence known for a couple NFL games.
The NFL has lucked out and has no east coast games after 1PM. However, games in Philadelphia and New York will likely see some impact. Wind gusts and some rain could make both of those games a little less predictable. Let’s look at potential impact.
Falcons @ Eagles: Looks like some rain early with a lot more rain into the 4th quarter. Winds close to 20 mph throughout the game. I write this from outside Philadelphia and the wind has already picked up. The weather in this game shouldn’t be too much of an issue but may help the Eagles a bit as Matt Ryan is far more comfortable in a dome to manage his passing attack. I think the Eagles win this game… b/c they have to quite frankly. But the weather benefits them here. Hourly Forecast Here
Dolphins @ Jets: This one looks to have any rain take place during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Wind will be 15-20 mph. I go to alot of games in the Meadowlands (I’m not going today) and a 15 mph wind can gust like crazy in there. Any bad weather benefits the Dolphins here. Sanchez gets rattled after turnovers and the Dolphins have a great run D. Miami can also move the ball on the ground and is faster than the Jets all around. A scary game for Jet fans IMO.
