ESPN Monday night’s controversial touchdown call that gave the Seattle Seahawks a 14-12 victory over the Green Bay Packers had an immediate impact for gamblers. If the Hail Mary pass by Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson were ruled an interception by Packers safety M.D. Jennings, Green Bay — 3.5 point favorites — would have won by five, covering the spread.
Instead, the replacement officials’ call that Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate had possession shifted all those who bet on the Packers to those who took the underdog Seahawks.
Just like I said, the Seahawks are the best home team in the NFL, they are a lock (+3.5), they are 8-1 in their last 9 home games!
I was one of the lucky ones who won money on that controversial call last night, but plenty of gamblers were on the wrong end of that call. They have to be fuming today.
This situation keeps getting worse and worse for Roger Goodell and the NFL owners. Bad calls changing the outcome of back to back nationally televised games, Patriots vs Ravens Sunday night and Packers vs Seahawks Monday night. The real NFL referees have major leverage now, and somewhere Ed Hochuli is laughing on a decline benchpress.
Also, 24 total penalties for 245 total yards is nuts! Let the players play a little. Plus how many penalties did they miss? Or miss call? Time for these garbage referees to go.
