Months of daily trade speculation by the talking heads and NBA bloggers have finally and mercifully come to an end. Dwight Howard has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in a four team blockbuster trade. Here is the breakdown:
Los Angeles Lakers get Dwight Howard, center from the Orlando Magic, plus KEEP Pau Gasol to go with Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash in L.A.
Denver Nuggets get Andre Igoudala, small forward from the Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia 76ers get Andrew Bynum, center from the Los Angeles Lakers and Jason Richardson, shooting guard from the Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic get Aaron Afflalo, shooting guard and Al Harrington, forward from the Denver Nuggets, Moe Harkless, forward and Nikola Vucevic, Center from the Philadelphia 76ers and a future first round pick from each team involved (so three).
Quick Hit Reactions: I actually get the trade for all parties involved. Orlando had to trade Howard, and they get an impressive young guard in Afflalo, two promising young players in Harkless and Vucevic and three first round picks. Not bad. Philly gets the young big man with superstar potential they have coveted for years in Bynum, and gave up Igoudala (who they have been trying to trade for years) to make room for Evan Turner. The Nuggets get a proven All-Star and defensive specialist in Igoudala, who fits well with their style of play. Finally the Lakers get the best center alive to go with Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
The Biggest Winners in the Deal: THE FANS!!! The Dwightmare is finally over!!! REJOICE!!!
