The Gothamist A restaurant called “Salume” which is located at 330 West Broadway (telephone 212-226-8111) has added a line of liquor-infused paninis to their menu. These include a “Scotchwich” and range in price from $11 to $18.
Gross. Listen I love alcohol and I live sandwiches. I also love eating a sandwich and washing it down with a cold drink or twelve, but I had a bad experience with my own booze infused sandwich in my past that nearly made me start violently vomit while reading this article.
I was at a New York Giants game and brought an awesome chicken salad sub from a local deli to the tailgate which I could not wait to eat. Since I had a designated driver, I also brought a large bottle of vodka to the game, but first poured myself a road soda, then put the vodka and sandwich in the same bag and headed to the stadium. When I got to the game, I busted out the sandwich, when I realized the vodka was not fully capped, and my delicious sub was now saturated in vodka.
I figured, I am starving, I need to man up and eat this sandwich. No big deal. I love vodka and I love sandwiches, this will be fine. I bit into one side of the sandwich and a disturbing amount of vodka shot out of the other side of the sandwich. My friends all laughed and the combination of booze, soggy bread and chicken made me rush to the bathroom and hurl.
So needless to say, these vodka infused sandwiches are not for sportsmasher. I hope the rest of NYCers get full and drunk off of these treats.
