Game one of the Eastern Conference Finals took place in Miami Last night and the clearly superior Miami Heat simply dominated the Boston Celtics as expected, earning a 93-79 victory to take a 1-0 series lead.
In an unexpected turn of events this morning, the entire city of Boston has taken to the internet complaining that the game was fixed and blaming the referees. Are you serious Boston? Did you watch the game? As a Knicks fan, I hate the Heat and the Celtics equally, and watched the game unbiased. Blaming the referees in this situation is absolutely ridiculous.
Did all of you crying Boston fans happen to notice that the Heat were actually whistled for 21 personal fouls to the Celtics 19? That’s right, the Heat were called for two MORE fouls than Boston, immediately invalidating your arguement.
The Heat shot just two more free throws than the Celtics in the game, Miami was 16-23 from the line while Boston was and embarrassing 11-21 on free throw attempts. The referees in no way called this game in the Heat’s favor, and crying that they did is flat out ridiculous. Let me break down for you why your precious Celtics lost this game.
The Celtics missed ten free throws, shooting a horrendous 52.4% from the stripe. Would it have even mattered if the game was called in favor of the Celtics? They would have missed the free throws anyway. Ray Allen, who is hobbled by an injury, was an awful 1-7 from the field. Paul Pierce was just 5-18. Rajon Rondo was an ugly 8-20. Avery Bradley, the Celtics best young player and best defensive option on Dwayne Wade, is out for the playoffs with a shoulder injury. Lebron James dropped 32 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks on the Celtics heads, while Dwayne Wade added 22 points, ten of them in the fourth quarter.
And you are blaming the referees? Look in the mirror at your Celtics Boston fans. The guys an the court are why you lost this game. When a Boston team wins, the entire fanbase instantly jumps on the bandwagon and loudly yells about how “gritty” they are, and the second the team loses they attack the referees. Miami didn’t even have Chris Bosh (who is injured with an abdominal strain) last night, the Heat are winning this series in five games, they are an awful matchup for the Celtics. Take your beating like men, blaming the refs after last nights result is sad and frankly you are embarrassing yourselves as a fanbase.
The Celtics lost to a better team by 14 points. You were not screwed by the referees and the game was not fixed. Shut up.
